Our 1st (and only) camping trip this summer

I love camping, and this campground can't be beat for beautiful. We went up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Albion Basin, with Leah's family, her sister-in-law's family, and the Davis'. The place was absolutely lush with wildflowers.

We even managed a hefty hike up to see a lake ( I don't remember the name), also beautiful, each packing a kid. Rebekah was worn out from all that hanging out.

That evening got cold (what is with our luck this summer?), so we hit the hay a bit early. Naturally we were a bit concerned about how this would go with a 2 month old, but we were instead woken up at 2 by the big kid--the combination of too many marshmallows and being in a strange place was a bad one, and she went from crying to screaming pretty quick. Half an hour of that, she finally calmed down and we had to go about settling her sister who was none too happy about the wake-up call. The sleeping arrangements shuffled and settled, I had a couple more hours of tossing around before Lilah decided to be up for the day, so I walked around the freezing campground til someone else got up that I could convince to start a fire. After breakfast, the rain started up, which then turned to hail, and then snow. Just picture it--trying to manage 2 little ones, taking down the tent and packing all our stuff into a muddy car in the middle of a snowstorm. In August. We've sworn off camping (until next year, at least).
